The Havana Club is quite possibly the closet you can get to Cuba without actually leaving Boston. It’s raw, it’s sexy, and it’s just as hot as a steamy summer night in Havana. Many of the more experienced dancers who frequent the Havana Club on the weekends are regulars who could give Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey a run for their money. But they’re not above giving a novice a spin on the dance floor. Even first timers are welcomed into the Havana Club with beginner salsa classes every Friday and Saturday night before the scene heats up with live music and mood lighting. There’s also a bar stocked with wine and beer, but the dance club is open to anyone over 18.

It’s well-kept secret that Cambridge has an amazing salsa dancing scene (thanks to a thriving club at MIT), and it’s also one of Boston’s best bargains at only $12 (which includes a dance lesson, cover, chocolate, burritos, and live music). Grab a few girlfriends (or a partner, if you can convince your boyfriend to tag along, more power to you, but I bet he’ll end up liking it) and head to Central Square for a guaranteed good time.
