MAC...Limited Edition, Novel Twist Collection

If your a true shopper, like me, than you know that every year, MAC comes out with a really cool limited edition set for the Nordstrom Anniversary Pre-Sale Event. Remember last year, they made some wicked mini purple makeup brushes? Well this time they have created an entire line called MAC Limited Edition Novel Twist Collection. The mini makeup brushes are charcoal gray, and the black boucle cases sport colorful aqua or baby-pink threading.

The collection includes three Lipglass lip glosses ($14 each), two powder blushes ($17.50 each), two beauty powders ($22 each), four lip palettes with three lipsticks in pink, plum, tan and coral variations ($22.50 each), two eye palettes with four unique shades in cool and warm tones ($36 each) a pearlizer plus a brush and a bag ($24.50) and two brush sets in basic or pro styles ($48 each).

Smoky Eyes with a Springtime Twist!

I’ve always loved the look of a smoky eye—But instead of predictable black, why not try a color that really pops?

A gorgeous choice? Navy blue. I know, I know—navy blue has been out since that horrible stint it had in the 80s. Don’t fret. Navy blue is back and better than ever, sans the electric tone. What we’re seeing now is deep blue that is almost dark enough to be black (but groovier) and silver-blue hues. These colors make any eye color pop.

To do a great smoky eye, you need to find a fantastic shadow palate. A great one to start with is DuWop’s “Blue Eyes” palate. You can pick it up at Sephora for $32. For gals who want to take the cheaper route, go for Cover Girl’s Queen Collection Eye Shadow Quad in “Blue Notes”. That goes for about $5 at your local drugstore.

With either palate, you’ll want to apply the shadows the same way. First, take the lightest and apply it right on the brow bone. Also apply it on the inner corner of the eye. This helps make your eyes look bigger. Next, grab a medium blue hue and apply it all over the lid itself. Once that is applied, you’re ready for the dark smoky shade. Brush it on right on the lash line. I like to add a little to the outer corner of the eye as well, just to give that cat eye effect. When that is on, you have to BLEND, BLEND, BLEND! I cannot stress this enough. Make sure that you can’t see lines of where each shadow begins—they should blend into each other seamlessly. Then, simply swipe on some mascara and you’ve got yourself a gorgeous smoky eye!

Try it for yourself and you’ll be the envy of all the gals wearing blah black and boring grey shadow. Keep looking fabulous, ladies!

PURRfect Summer Outfit

Lauren Conrad attended the "Welcome Back Submarine" event at Disneyland, Anaheim, CA. Lauren looks almost innocent in this super suspender short denim outfit. She paired the shorts with a gray, sleeveless tank and some Tory Burch funky flats, don’t forget to add a great headband and a side, loose ponytail. The trick is to make it look unplanned. This outfit is perfect for a sunny day and flea market shopping with a BFF, or an early lunch date with a BF or a blind date with that guy on Myspace.
