Jilliana TOKYO
This new boutique is truly a hidden jewel in Laguna Beach, CA. There are so many boutiques in Orange County with so many look-a-like fashion clothing, but this boutique carries very unique items from Japanese fashion. Their theme is “cute & sexy”, providing “Princess” look to girls targeted from teens to 20s/30s adult.
Indeed, their tops and dresses are very cute and makes you want to stop and look.
They carry top brands from Shibuya and Harajuku where the most popular fashion trends are created in Japan.
Prices are very reasonable compared to the other high end fashion boutique in the area, ranging from $30 to $60.
This boutique is hard to notice because it is hidden inside the shopping mall, away from the main road. And the store is very small, with second room in the back.
But if you are looking for something new, cute & sexy, this boutique is worth visiting.
First Date
Stockings flying, lipsticks smearing, jewelry jangling. The life of a serial dater. Maybe this time he’ll be cute, you think. Or at least employed. Not one to give up easily, you choose your clothing as carefully as if you were meeting the queen, creating a look that he can’t refuse (just in case he’s a keeper).
The girls at First Date just made your job a little bit easier. Keri and Brianne Barrett, two sisters on the early side of twenty-something, have taken the stress out of designing to-die-for date outfits. Their brand new Andover boutique, First Date, is organized into quadrants based on typical dating themes: Sunday Stroll, Just Cocktails, Soirée and Rent-a-Movie.
Sunday Stroll encompasses casual wear, from denim to hoodies to tees; Just Cocktails is comprised of sexy ensembles that will empower you; Soirée will dress you up like a lady; and Rent-a-Movie provides comfort in the form of loungewear. Labels include Shoshanna, Helen Wang, Sweetees, Corey Lynn Calter, Voom and Dakota Martin, with prices ranging from $60 for a top to $300 for a dress. They also sell small clutches from Arza Designs and Preppy Potato, totes from Ame & Lulu and Bunny and Chad, belts and headbands from Molly B, and thong underwear (embroidered with your boyfriend’s name) from Blume. Handbags and shoes will come soon.
The atmosphere is so very “girls just want to have fun” with a leaning towards preppy chic. The walls are azure, the sofa a graphic black and white trellis print, and the accents bright pink. Behind the counter hangs a flat-screen TV that plays “first date” movies like “Dirty Dancing” and “Titanic.”
So, like the Barrett sisters like to say, while your date may not be love at first sight, they'll make sure the outfit (and your shopping experience) is.
Loeffler Randall and Chie Mihara @ Shopgirls by Lisa & Helen
I cannot even begin to describe how excited I was to find that Shopgirls, in Costa Mesa, has started to carry Loeffler Randall shoes and clothes! For those of you unfamiliar with the line, let me just say it’s something to see. The shoes and clothes are gorgeous in classic styles but with a modern twist. They are very sophisticated without being overly stuff and conservative. The pieces at Shopgirls exemplify just that. The shoes, crafted in Italy, produce a quality that is hard to beat. And the clothes drape perfectly over your body no matter what your shape.
That said, also new at Shopgirls is the shoe line Chie Mihara. Coming from Spain, these shoes achieve the impossible by combining uniquely chic design and ultimate comfort. They will be your feet’s best friend. The comfort comes from the shoe’s ability to hug your foot, giving it complete support, without squeezing it in a death hold. And the pitch of the heels gives you enough lift without tiring your foot out so you can wear them all day without a backup pair stashed in your over-sized bag. These shoes are, quite simply, amazing. And now the amazing shoes are more accessible, thanks to Lisa and Helen and Shopgirls. Previously the line has only been available at big-name department stores like Saks and Bergdorf’s but now we can admire them on our feet in a more comfortable, friendly environment.
During my last visit to the store, which included a purchase of a piece from each new line, I was told that the new goodies would also be on the website soon. But in the meantime, go into the boutique and see them in person as you check out the rest of the new fall line as it trickles in. If summer is your favorite season and you’re not ready to give that up to try on the cozy cashmere sweaters just yet, give the new Tom Ford sunglasses a go.
