Maya Brenner Brings Charm Back
Want to dress like a celebrity and have that star appeal? Well, here’s your chance. Jessica Simpson was recently spotted (looking more fabulous than ever!) leaving the trendy Hollywood club, Les Deux. She was wearing the Maya Brenner “Texas” Necklace, available at www.mayabrenner.com.
Charm Jewelry has been making a comeback in recent years, and I’d like to thank Maya Brenner for her effort – I think she single-handedly pioneered the comeback. Charm jewelry may conjure images of silver cast roller skates and Eiffel Towers, but bear with me; you’ll find nothing that traditional or childish in her collections. Maya Brenner designs are versatile, simultaneously delicate and bold, with a hint of bohemian-chic.
In addition to the state necklaces like the one Jessica was wearing at Les Deux, Maya Brenner designs feature elements of nature like feathers, leaves, and even starfish, all done in sterling silver and 14k gold. Additionally, she incorporates splashes of color with gems and beads. The delicate chains are often longer in length (18+ inches), so they are perfect for layering. I am particularly fond of the gold and silver mixed pieces – they go with everything!
Maya has been designing since 1998 and now sells to a multitude of specialty shops in the United States, as well as stores in London and Japan. Other celebrities who are fans of the line include: Cameron Diaz, Reese Witherspoon, Demi Moore, Nicole Richie, Debra Messing, Lindsay Lohan, Mandy Moore, Teri Hatcher, and Paula Abdul.
Price: $300.00
Sienna Miller launches clothing line Twenty8Twelve
We knew who she dated and what she wore before we’d even seen her in a film, and while Sienna Miller continues to make films that garner decent reviews but low box-office, her style never fails to impress. She helped introduce boho chic to England, carrying it with her over to the States, and then brought fashion icon Edie Sedgwick to life in the biopic “Factory Girl.” Now, with her sister Savannah, a professional designer with past stints at Alexander McQueen and Mathew Williamson, the actress has launched her first collection. Named Twenty8Twelve after the star’s birthday, the 80-piece line cites inspirations ranging from Patti Smith to the roaring ‘20s. Ken Downing, fashion director for Neiman Marcus, said of the collection and its designers, "It has that coquettish, flirty attitude that they both have.” Entitled “An Anthology of Rebellion,” the line will become available in the US in September. While the clothing is a bit pricey (in the $200 to $700 range), this is one of the more professional celebrity collections and features pieces that will last for seasons to come. On September 8th the line previews at Neiman Marcus’ flagship in Beverly Hills at a private tea party with the Miller sisters.
