O'Donovan's: A Good Place to Get a Burger
I have found "my bar". And thankfully, it is just two blocks away from my house. I started going to neighborhood bar and grills during the summer. I've tried out a few in my North Center neighborhood in Chicago. Some were too filled with children (why there were more kids in a bar than adults; I'll never know) others were too pricey for what I got. Then, I went to O'Donovan's.

Essential Essence of India
I wanted to go to Essence of India in trendy Lincoln Square for ages. So, finally, last Saturday night, I went. The dining room was completely full and I briefly thought of going someplace else. It was nearly eight thirty but the host told me that a table for two would be a wait of ten minutes. Not bad for a Saturday night without reservations.

The Globe Pub: An International Bar
The Globe Pub is a bar men love. Especially foreign men. My husband is Australian and he likes to go to the Globe because they consistently show sports events that Australia participates in. It reminds me of an English pub, dark with a wooden interior. There are two sections of the pub, which is great on a crowded Saturday night. There’s a lot of people minus the cramped space.
The Globe Pub offers a variety of events throughout the week in addition from a sports schedule that involves rugby, soccer, and American sport as well like the NFL.
Mondays are reserved for Comedy Open Mic, which I haven’t gotten to witness just yet but am very curious about. Tuesdays are Quiz nights. I went a few weeks ago and it was loads of fun. The categories are obscure and quite difficult, but it was a laugh when my team were scrambling to answer some of the strangest questions we’ve ever heard. And we didn’t come in last! Wednesdays are Acoustic open mic and Fridays are for a Retro DJ.
The Globe Pub has a full menu and so far, everything that I’ve had off of it has been delicious. Their beer selection is huge and loaded with British ales.
. If you’re a single girl with a weakness for accents, I suggest the Globe. Or if you want to take your boyfriend to a pub that’s a little bit different, then check out the Globe Pub!

Simply Vera: Simply Chic
I know that there have been a couple of blogs about Vera Wang’s collection of chic, designer goods for less at Kohls, but I was just so pleased with the collection that I have to write about it myself!
I needed something business casual but very sophisticated for a job interview. Thankfully, the Simply Vera collection had just opened at Kohls, the same week I was looking. The best part was, that not only did I have an array of cute, well made, fantastic clothes, but Kohls was already having a 30% off sale!
I was able to purchase the very pretty pleated skirt with well hidden pockets in black ( and I bought the one in gray too!) For only $43.99 each.
The other great thing about Simply Vera is that the clothes are made with wonderful fabrics that will last. The other thing that I loved about this collection was that the sizing was great. I thought that because it was designer, the sizes were going to be a bit smaller. I was very pleased.
Starting in October, Simply Vera is debuting more items for fall. I can’t wait. Until then, I will be stocking up on the business yet sexy for Friday night tops and jeans which are a mere fifty bucks.
Simply Vera has gloves, tights, lingerie, shoes, jewelry, and handbags in addition to the clothes. I have been telling all my friends to get to Kohls. Actually...I think I’ll pop in there too.
