India Evening: Shop & Get Henna-ed

India is the “it” nation. From trendy yoga gear spawned from our incessant addiction to Hollywood movies and chick lit authors expounding on the trials and tribulations of arranged marriage, India’s never been so intriguing.

Shake the Tree, located in Boston’s North End, invites you for a taste of the spicy life on Thursday, September 20th from 6pm to 8pm. This one-night only Indian Bazaar will feature an array of enticing, ethnic treasures that North End resident and burgeoning import extraordinaire, Anna Romano Sundaram, gathered on her recent trip to India.

From silk embroidered tops in gorgeous jewel tones to sequin beaded silk pants and hand-embellished accessories, including jewelry, bindis, belts, badhani dupattas and kolhapuri chappals (scarves and sandals, to you neophytes), plus pillows and throws, we expect to be dazzled.

There’ll be Indian music (Bollywood and Bombay style beats) and drinks. Plus, they’ve invited Heather Caunt-Nulton (hennabyheather.com), a certified henna tattoo artist and BU doctoral student, to adorn your hands or feet.

Stop by Shake the Tree after work to de-stress and shop. Perfect for early holiday presents, as well as pick-me-ups for your still fledgling fall wardrobe.
