Bumble and Bumble University Model Project
Forget about those gorgeous new flats you saw in Bloomingdales, you need a haircut and for most New York City gals, that means dropping close to $150 for just a trim. Now, thanks to Bumble and Bumble Model University, girls all over the city can get a marvelous haircut with an even more marvelous price tag: FREE.
With appointments Monday through Friday, get a new cut, color or style by licensed professionals (minimum two years experience) who are part of the Bumble and Bumble network throughout the country.
Here’s how it works: Strut on downtown to Bumble and Bumble on a Monday night from 6-9pm for a one-time model call. BB professionals will then (painlessly!) evaluate the condition, length and texture of your hair. After your quickie consultation, simply sign up for the appropriate appointment and you are on your way to looking fantastic for free.
Once at your appointment, sit back and enjoy everything you would expect from a renowned salon including a chic atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable stylists, and a say in your cut and color almost every step of the way.
Have a serious obligation to your current stylist? Not a problem. Try the commitment-free styling appointments where clients will receive an amazing ponytail, chignon, or twist up-do. Even better, receive a $10 BB product credit just for showing up.

Old Town Pasadena & Film Festival
Old Town Pasadena is like a microcosm of what’s great about LA. Every ethnicity is covered by the oodles of restaurants from the sublimely pricey to the so cheap, even a local college kid can afford it. Not just the food is awesome, the shopping in Old Town is totally fabulous. You get to work on your tan in the great outdoors, while you shop till you drop.
You know the Pinkberry of Hollywood fame? Well its coming to Old Town, next to Wokano, a local chain of Asian food and a bar and club in the back. Or try the inexpensive Asian offerings of BobaWorld, and top it off with a boba. Or splurge at one of the upscale eateries, like Il Fornaio, a super yummy Italian restaurant in Miller Alley.
Speaking of Miller Alley, during July, its practically all the entertainment you need because they set up an outdoor screen and will be showing Westerns on Friday and Saturday evenings. You can even watch from the patios of many of the restaurants found in the alley!
If you’d rather shop than eat, not to worry. The Alley is also home to lots of shops, including standby chains like The Gap and Crate and Barrel, but also unique gift shops and a jewelry store and a Laemmle movie theatre. Unlike most Laemmles, this one has mainstream films in addition to the Indies and foreign films Laemmle is known for. Head back to the street for a conglomeration of your favorite chains; like H&M and Forever 21 alongside an assortment of unique and affordable boutiques.
If you haven’t been in a while, then now is definitely a good time to check out Old Town Pasadena, because all the stores are having massive discount sales!

Tango in the Park
If you find yourself strolling down Literary Walk in Central Park on a warm Saturday evening around six o’clock, you will undoubtedly find yourself drawn towards the statue of Shakespeare by Argentinean music. Take a seat on one of the many benches because you are about to witness yet another reason to absolutely adore this city.
People of all ages and dress begin to show up, drop their bags at Shakespeare’s feet and... tango.
This is not a dance company and it is not a club. People who love to tango have gathered in the park for the past eleven years at this free dance, open to all, which is now held on Saturdays from 6 to 9pm, June through September.
Some of the dancers are good. Really good. And some of them-- well, they’re probably better than the people watching on the sidelines anyway. But that is part of the fascination. They could be anyone. Some are wearing dance shoes and skirts, others are in sneakers and jeans.
And if while you are sitting on that bench you start thinking that the tango looks really amazing and you wish you could do that, well go ahead and try: There is a free lesson at 7:30, around a bend, where you can learn the basics away from the crowd of onlookers.
The lesson lasts for about half an hour, if you stay the whole time, but you can find couples piecing out newly learned steps in pockets around Literary Walk long afterwards.
Whether you choose to take part or just sit back and enjoy the scene, the Tango in Central Park is a lovely way to spend a summer night in New York.

HBO Summer Film Festival
Grab your blanket, a hot date, or a few great friends and head on over to Bryant Park for HBO’s Summer Film Festival. Enjoy FREE outdoor movies on the lawn every Monday night, beginning tonight June 18.
Catch old classics like Annie Hall, Casablanca and Psycho at dusk (around 8pm) on the big screen. Bring a blanket and arrive early as the lawn opens at 5pm for a little picnicking and a lot of mingling. (Fear not ladies, the park is even equipped with full and clean restroom facilities.)
Forgot the picnic basket? Not to worry. Familiarize yourself with ‘wichcraft, a Bryant Park establishment featuring sandwiches, soups and salads that are the perfect way to begin an evening under the stars. The kiosk even offers lawn-side dinner service that allows moviegoers to order and relax as sandwiches are delivered straight to their patch of grass.
Because of the park’s great location one block from Times Square, it is no wonder why New Yorkers flock to the event to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Bryant Park also features free wireless access, leaving even the most terrible workaholics without an excuse to miss this great event.
So sit back, relax and kick away the Monday blues with a fabulous evening in the park. For more information and movie schedules, visit www.bryantpark.org.
