Love to Hate South Beach's Love Hate Lounge

As a Miami Ink fan, I heard about their new venture on T.V and decided to try it out for myself. Chris Nunez and Ami James from, the popular T.V. show, Miami Ink recently opened up their own bar called Love Hate. The name comes from loving what you do but hating it at the same time. The bar/lounge has an unusually laid back ambience for South Beach. It is beautifully decorated with tattoo inspired artwork. It features live music, rock, ska, hip hop and almost everything in between. Bottle service is available and there's enough space to dance or lounge on a couch.

Take a Lucca...Tony Lucca

Oct 10 2007 - 7:00pm
Oct 10 2007 - 11:00pm
Etc/GMT-8

Once again the greatest underground acoustic wonder you have never heard of is hitting the road and making a stop here in Atlanta on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at Smith’s Olde Bar in Midtown. I had the pleasure of discovering Mr. Lucca last year after his concert was recommended to me by a west coast friend of mine. I was blown away, once you get a taste of his music samplings, you will be too. I am coming back for fourths this time and can hardly wait! This time around, he will be part of an act that includes sets from other singer songwriters such as Keaton Simons, Sun Domingo and Curtis Peoples.

A little known fact about Tony Lucca is that he is a graduate of the infamous Mickey Mouse Club class of the 90’s that spawned Justin, Britney, JC and Kerri Russell. As a matter of fact, he was dating Kerri Russell back in her Felicity days and even stuck by her after that dreadful haircut, which bumps up his credible man points in my book.

Swift is a Crowd Pleaser

Swift is the type of bar that my friend insists, “I never pay for a drink here.” True to her word, this pub is packed wall to wall with cute Irish Wall Street-types and parties of friends who are always inviting you to join in whatever their celebrating. It’s difficult to find a great bar that your girl and guy pals can all agree on and Swift might just be it.

Everything from the beer menu to the food menu to the music makes Swift a great nighttime haunt. Their international beer menu is full of almost 100 drinks on tap or by the bottle ($5 and up). More than a bar, Swift is complete with a DJ who plays anything from Lily Allen to Justin. Swfit sometimes even has live music. Their pretty traditional food menu covers all of the bar bases while mixing comfort foods with classics. Mini burgers ($5.50) chicken wings ($5.50) and “Swift Dollar Dogs” ($1) share menu space with Dean’s Cottage Pie ($8) and Bangars & Mash ($8).

For special occasions you can call to book a party, but stop by on any given day and it just might become one.

PS1 Warmup: Summer Dance Extravaganza

Aug 18 2007 - 3:00pm
Aug 18 2007 - 9:00pm
Etc/GMT-8

What makes you a real New Yorker? It may be giving directions to ten different people, but far more fun is heading to the PS1 Warmup for one of the best dance parties in New York.

The atmosphere is always chill and electric, thanks to the combination of amazing music and the outdoor museum setting. Thousands of New Yorkers alternate hanging out and drinking with dancing for hours against the urban setting of Long Island City. Head to Water Taxi Beach afterwards to keep the party going.

*PS1 was the first school in Long Island City, until it was resurrected as one of the first contemporary art centers in the nation

*Toilets are one of the biggest complaints, the lines can get out of hand. Try the Irish bar across the street.

*Every year PS1 invites design proposals from young architects; the winner designs the courtyard/dance floor for the summer

Admission is $10, free for members. The Warmup is held every Saturday, 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. June 30 - September 1, 2007, including this Saturday. Take the 7 to 45 Road-Courthouse Sq or the EV to 23 Street (Ely Avenue) Make sure to arrive early to avoid the line.
