Libertine for Target GO International Launches July 15th

On July 15th, Target launches its newest GO International collection. This season it's American design team Libertine whose versions of their runway looks will available for much, much less at the chain store. Started in September 2001, Libertine is made up of Los Angeles based designer Johnson Hartig and New York based designer Cindy Greene. To create their runway looks, Hartig finds vintage pieces, which he re-cuts and sends to Greene, who silk-screens images of birds, skulls, and other whimsical items onto the clothing.

Joining past designers Behnaz Sarafpour, Luella Bartley, and most recently Patrick Robinson, Libertine’s Target line consists of twenty-two looks, highlighting their preppy-fun, vintage-inspired style. Some of the pieces are perfect for summer, like the khaki Bermuda shorts with bats flying up the leg, pleated skirt, and navy slip dress trimmed in black lace, while others are great to take you into fall, throw on the pink argyle sweater vest printed with green skulls over their polo shirt or toss on the blue trench coat and matching blue bucket hat when it rains.

The looks are only available for ninety days and prices range from $12.99 to $39.99. Considering that Proenza Schouler’s famous silk bustier tops sold out as soon as they hit Target stores, don’t wait until the last day to buy clothing from this popular design house, worn by celebrities like Mick Jagger, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Liv Tyler.

Classic Contrast: Black and White Prints

I'm all about classic duds. Forget about the ridiculous trends for a moment (for the last time, tie-dye is simply not coming back) and let's recall a fashion fave: black and white prints.

Unlike oodles of other color combos, black and white can easily transition from day to night; casual to dressy. With the cinch of a belt, or the drape of a wrap, you can be ready for a lunch date or a fancy gala. Can you tell that I'm currently having a love affair with the idea?

Lucky for me, I've got a few tops like this. If you are one of the unfortunate ones who has yet to indulge in such a divine shirt, look no further. Rampage has a great one ($59!) that is long enough to be a dress in addition to its already plentiful possibilities as a top.

The best part is that this look will never go out of style.

If you still need some convincing, think of all the money you'll save by buying one item of clothing that works for every single thing you will ever do in your life. Although, you may want to think twice before packing it for your African safari trip. Let's be honest here. Some things are best for day-to-day urban life.

Classic black and white has never looked so good.
