1. Jewelry designs for every inclination, running the gamut from dainty pieces to mod Lucite baubles and sparkling cocktail rings.

2. A hat—the cloche, fedora or beret—is the hot item of the fall season and you’ll find loads of them here.

3. All kinds of handbags: vegan styles from Matt and Nat, luxe leather bags from Brazil and svelte clutches.

4. Hair stuff like barrettes and cool clips to hold back tresses for demure style.

5. Knit scarves, hats, gloves (fingerless, too!) and ponchos rule the day and keep you toasty when icy wind blows.

6. Makeup cases and lip gloss for the girly girl.

7. Gift items such as stationery, note cards and candles will make you a thoughtful girlfriend.

8. Indulge in aromatherapy bath products and create a serene setting at home for your inner bathing beauty.

9. The belt continues to be big. From wide to skinny, leather to metallic, try one on for size.

10. Jacquelinetalbot hosts champagne and chocolate parties to celebrate designers and unite creative types. Look to the website for upcoming events and join the mailing list for the low-down on the who, when and where.

Crazy for Daiso

Oh yes, it’s true: The 100 yen store has landed south of San Francisco. Japan’s version of the dollar store, Daiso opened six months ago in the Serramonte Shopping Center. I first became crazy for Daiso after hearing about it from my sister who lives in the Tokyo suburbs.

Special shopping events are semi-regular, always boast drinks and treats, and you'll be notified in advance of the highly-acclaimed Abejas annual Sidewalk Sale. Usually taking place in late January or early February, this is THE sale for Houston girls who need to stock up on designer denim, tank tops and all of the extras. Also be sure to check out the house line which includes lounge tops, yoga pants, canvas bags and baby wear. The house line is adorned with Abejas' signature bee logo (Abejas means bee in Spanish), and a portion of the profits are donated to a local charity. How fashionable is that?

So whether you're in the mood to peruse racks of unique dresses, or simply in the market for basic, luxe seperates, Abejas Boutique provides the warmth and comfort that we all long for in a shopping experience.
