Stylementor Buble Hem Smock Dress

I bought this fab Stylementor dress as a beach coverup. I thought because it was a tube style dress and had soft sheen fabric it would be easy to get on and off and would also shrug off the sand I always seem to get everywhere when i'm on holidays.

3.1 Phillip Lim reveals worldly spring 2008 collection

Even though his line was only launched in the fall of 2005, Phillip Lim has already become the darling of the fashion world, creating classic American sportswear for more-affordable-than-average prices. Working with Katayone Adeli and helping launch Development before moving into creating his own line, Lim quickly garnered glowing reviews. In 2006 he won the Women's Designer Rising Star award given by Fashion Group International and recently he won the Council of Fashion Designers of America award for emerging talent in women's wear.

So it was with great anticipation that Lim revealed his spring collection. He said he "wanted to make clothes that were ready for travel," Lim revealed his 3.1 Phillip Lim spring 2008 collection on Sunday September 9th during New York's fashion week, going on now. The show began with Lim favorite, model Irina Lazareanu strolling down the runway in a khaki trench coat, white button down shirt, white harem-style pants, and a large white tie, ready for her safari adventure. Lim continued to wow the audience throughout the show with an exposed zipper mini, "Thriller" style red leather jacket, and a backless cocktail dress.

Clothing came in calm neutrals with loud pops of Crayola yellow and red on jackets, pants, and bags. Each outfit consisted of easy separates. Style.com reported that the collection "made obvious statements about the improvisational nature of dressing on the go." Lim's woman-on-the-go isn't just going from office to bar, she's going from Kenya to St. Tropez to downtown New York, and she doesn't want to bother with fussy clothing or worrying if things will match or not.

Trapeze without a Net

Any good fashion guide will tell you to dress for your body, to pick a few classics and accessorize, to avoid fads.

In the face of all this, major retailers seem to push fashions that flatter noone: skinny jeans, bubble skirts, Uggs. I've been trying to ride out this summer's least-flattering trend, the trapeze. "Tent shape" says it all, a trapeze dress is a giant tent that leaves one's figure a complete mystery.

I finally caved and bought one of the trapeze dresses at Old Navy. It was on sale and the bold color and simple cotton seemed like a fun risk to take on a hot summer day in August.

I really, really liked it. Part of the shapeless ambiguity means you're better off without a bra, and definitely stick to something comfortable, no push-up bras. As long as its not too windy, you're well-covered but its so cool and airy. Even though you could be skeletal or 9-months pregnant, the true sexiness of a trapeze dress are the little hints...It surprisingly highlights your shoulders and neck and of course, sexy calves.

From Target to Saks, the trapeze shape is here to stay. Part of being fashionable is not playing it safe and trying out something bold that may not be figure flattering. If you get tired of looking like the circus came to town, cinch your trapeze dress with a chic, slim belt for a whole new outfit.
