Sleeping on the Job
Admit it---after a late night, you've entertained the thought of fashioning a cubicle-bed out of the office bathroom toilet paper and your chair cushion. There are those days when you're on your third Red Bull before you even step into the office. The National Center on Sleep Disorders Research of the National Institutes of Health says almost one out of three adults have some kind of sleep problem--and that means lots of cranky New Yorkers.

But it seems that power-napping is the new energy drink. And though you can nap for free, many are now paying for it at sleep spas. Yelo, one such spa in Midtown, clients buy sleep in the YeloCab, a private sleep cabin, in 5-minute increments. For optimal napping, sleep sessions only range from 20-40 minutes---no more, no less.

Your lunchtime nap at Yelo will cost anywhere from $12-$24, depending on the length of time of your nap, but it might be worth it. A NASA study showed that airline pilots who took planned, controlled 40-minute naps in the cockpit showed a 34% increase in performance and a 54% increase in alertness.

If you’re not ready to head back to work after your nap, Yelo also offers reflexology massages. Indulge yourself in a 30, 60, or 90-minute reflexology massage for your hands, feet, or ears, and you’ll come back to work refreshed and energized.
