The Joshua Tree
It’s Friday night, a comfortable 70 degrees, and you’ve got your heels on. Which bar do you head to first? The answer: The Joshua Tree (Westside). A young crowd assembles here by 10:00 or 10:30, which is a nice change from some of the more touristy bars. It gets crowded later, so make it your first stop of the night. Plasma screens cover the wall behind the bar while cool 80’s tunes like “Take Me Home Tonight,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go (Jitterbug)” blast through the trendy area with old-school performances filling the screens. It’s hard not to get caught up singing along, and sometimes it gets so loud you have no choice but to join in! All night throughout the summer they have promos going on, including Ladies night every Wednesday. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday 4-7pm, so go ahead and get an early start to the night. Typically a full sports bar with restaurant, you can even convince your summer fling to go with you and catch a Yankees/Mets game. The Joshua Tree offers a fun environment for both guys and girls. There’s also an outdoor café which is perfect for recovering Saturday morning.
